They are already offered vocational education and that is enough to provide them with skills for a well paying profession.

Figure out a way to make the inmate pay for a loan like we do. Extra work in prison ? The first lesson to be learned is how to earn what you want. It is indeed a slap in the face for everyone that continues to pay for their student loan to see someone who broke the law get it for free. Make the program pay for itself---- NOT BY TAXPAYERS!!!!!

Nobody is going to hire a convict anyways so it's a waste of $ and not fair to law abiding citizens who struggle to payoff their own college bills!

This is completely and utterly unfair to the working family. I am a hard working tax payer, and I can barely makes ends meet working almost 50 hours a week. We already pay too much for these prisoners, why the hell should I have to pay more. Unless someone is going to pay me more for the hard work, and education that I earned myself, I don't even want to hear about this. Cuomo seriously needs to get a clue. He makes enough money, why doesn't he just fund it out of his own damn paycheck.

I raised my children to be law-abiding citizens. They now have student loan debt. Why should I and they be forced to subsidize the college educations of people who were NOT law-abiding citizens?

I don't know where these "figures" come from on recidivism? All that you will have is a group of criminals going back to prison with a degree! Liberals love spending other peoples money to try and make themselves feel good, even though it makes them look foolish as usual!

This is totally outrageous! These prisioners had the same opportunities as everyone else to get a college degree, prior to their crimes. This is a slap in the face to all students and parents that struggle to pay college debt.

I think this is absolutely disgusting. Taxes are high enough in NYS and I’m tired of paying for everyone else to have benefits and now an education for criminals. Who is going to hire these criminals when they get out of prison anyway? No one paid for my education or my son’s education. Keep taxing the middle class until we are living in poverty!!!!!

There's very few jobs available for kids today when they graduate from college with a degree. What makes Gov. Cuomo think that there will be jobs available for cons with degrees?
