when the non-criminal population receives free college classes, maybe then & only maybe should prison inmates for felons be considered for a funded college course - funded maybe by the governor himself. Why do tax payers get hit with such absurdity?? Are we victims twice? Once as the ntital victim of a felon and again as providing funds for this? OUTRAGEOUS! Although inmates would benefit from some level of rehabbing…why is it ours to pay?

I do not agree with this idea. Just made my last tuition payment for the youngest child. My total cost exceeds $75,000 and obey all laws

I understand theory behind the efforts Gov. Cuomo is attempting to make, however providing a FREE education on the taxpayer's dime is not the way to do it. If imates truely want to become a productive part of society then they can take out loans and/or participate in excisting college funding programs just like the rest of us. That money would be better spent on our public schools or increasing the state college funding assistance for everyone. Prison is a punishment for breaking the law not a free ride.

They should be offered the opportunity but should have to take a loan like everyone else. No one paid for my kids educations. The working class people with pride have enough freeloaders on our backs as it is, we do not need anymore..

My husband and I paid back our loans; our kids will spend years paying back theirs. I don't think they should have to go to jail to get free college.
