I have been paying student loans for many many years. My children work incredibly hard and cannot receive enough financial aid for college without placing themselves into the same situation of lifelong debt. There is no reason that people who have chosen not to follow the rules should receive free education when those that are contributing to a productive society must constantly struggle.

Lower school taxes or college tuitions for the general public before funding inmate college. I was a deputy in the local county jail & most inmates refused free GED classes. Minors were required to attend if they hadn't obtained their GED or diploma & they would do most anything to avoid attending or looked at the classroom as a way to socialize. And, don't get me started on our veterans that could be helped in so many ways by these state funds. Please fight this fight. Thank you

Governor Cuomo use the money you are purposing to spend for inmates and put it back ingot he public schools. Give the kids that are in failing schools or having programs cut a chance to stay away from the criminal justice system. Out of anyone you ought to know the juvenile justice matters. From the age of birth until 18 or so kids are not fully developed. When need to get at education younger than in prison. Not the other ways around. Quit being political sir.

My Mom has to work and help me as I work to pay for school. Bad enough immigrants get my spot in school, now criminals get my tuition.

I'm a law enforcement official and currently hold three jobs just to save enough money to send my son to a SUNY school. What the governor is fogeting that after these criminals get out of prison with their college degrees, they won't be hired in the work force for having criminal records. They are in prison for a reason, if they were in college to begin with, they wouldn't be in prison. This is ridiculous.

My uncle started the education system in prisons. I feel we should help criminals better themselves, but the emphasis is on "self-help" not a handout.

Definitely no free college for prisoners unless you want to wipe all the debt myself and both my children have hanging over our heads from college just like so many in this state

Ridiculous. There will be people who can't afford tuition breaking the law so they can get a degree. Ridiculous. Help students that choose to give back to society to make it a better place, not those that break the law. Shame on you.

I can't afford to pay my student loans nor finish college. Do I have to commit a crime to get a degree?
