I worked and paid my own way through college with some small amount of TAP and many student loans. Anyone can get a college education in NY if they work for it. Criminals should not receive rewards.

My 15 year old son wants to go to school to become a pharmacist. Why should he struggle after school with all that debt. He'd like some free tuition too!

Once again I am dumbfounded by the absurdity of this suggestion and others. These are criminals! Our law abiding youth can"t afford college without exorbitant student loans. What the he** are these politicians thinking? (Other than re-election of course!) I'd also like to know how they come up with $5000 per YEAR per inmate? My daughter would have been thrilled with that bill per year as she graduated wtth a debt of $80K!! At exhobitant interest rates! Higher that a mortgage. It's enough to make you run screaming through the streets/

It is outrageous as if we didn't pay enough taxes as it is. I am still paying my teacher loans. Mr. Cuomo, forgive our students' loans first!

This has to be one of the dumbest waste of tax dollars yet. If you want to support higher education then put the money into programs that will benefit the middle class not the people in prison for preying on the middle class.

If this goes through, a lot of parents will be sending their kids to prison.

When the state reiumbuses me for what I paid for my 2 sons to go to college then I will think about saying this is ok. Why should law breakers be rewarded when law abiding families have to pay?? I am already paying for them to eat and sleep in jail.

What a waste of tax $. Most of the prisioners get released on parole and end up back in jail after violating parole. Whats the sense to this?

I have to work hard to put my daughter through college, and he wants to give a free ride to inmates. This is crazy, the harder u work the less u get, but if you dont work and go to jail there are many perks for you. Shame on you Lawmakers who thought of this ridiciuolous idea.

crazey Cuomo !!!!! Give the money to people of ny that need it . Inmates cost ny taxpayers enough as is , 45-60 k per year , free and better health care than a tax contrubting citizen . You are inviting people to commit crime for free education !!!!! recind the gun control act !!
