Apparently the governor did not do his homework on this issue either. Doesn't he know that most prisoners are functionally illiterate. How the hell would they function in college when they generally read at less than a 5th grade level?

I have no problem with them being educated but they should have to pay or work for it.

I have (3) children in college that can't get enough financial aid to cover their tuition. Help us first, the people who are following the laws in thios state!!

I just graduated from college and in debt 70k. Now inmates who broke the law are able to go to college for free, that is just wrong and I hope cuomo doesn't get reelected and fails at this. What a joke!

This is a crazy use of tax payer funds. We have law abiding people who are more deserving!

Why should a criminal receive a free education when the honest middle class students are struggling? Talk about an unfair idea!

This is absolutely ridiculous!!! I love what the Governor has been doing for Western New York but am TOTALLY against this idea!!! My kids busted their ass to get through college on hard earned dollars by my wife, myself, and themselves, taking out loans and paying them back. Absolutely NO to giving criminals FREE college!!!! Give back to the good kids and stop compensating for the losers!!!

we as good law abiding citizens have to pay out of our own pocket' s for a college education but a criminal gets one for free? So they are being awarded for their wrong doings????

My daughters are good, law abiding citizens. Why do they have to go to jail to get a free education? What message are we sending?????

Great idea to help our citizens but it sends a message to law abiding citizens that crime does pay
