Prison should exactly that PRISON not higher education. They should be given less than what they are now. Prison should be punishment not a country club. Make it something that they don't want to go back into.

I worked hard for my education and I'm doing my best to pay for it. I live paycheck to paycheck, I work hard, I pay my taxes and I do the right thing....where's my break? Where's my help? If this program happens then what's to stop people from committing crimes just to get free education? Let's think long and hard abou it first.

how about putting this money back into the schools within NYS so that innocent kids can get a fair education without their school being shut down or classes over crowed. Or give it to the kids that paid their own way through college by getting loans and are working just to pay back the loans some not even in the field that went to college for.

NO FUCKING WAY!! I've had to help my 3 kids through college! Nothing is FREE anymore, especially for CONVICTS!

The pel and tap grants have already been depleted by prisoners in NYS because they get to them before are high school students can apply. That is sad.

I would not against training them in trades, but a bachelors or associates degree makes no sense. Who would hire a felon with only an associates degree.
