My son cannot afford college but we're going to give a free degree to criminals!! That's disgusting!! Foreigners come in & take spots in universities before US citizens get accepted & they go back home to use their education or use it against the US, that's not bad enough now fee degrees for criminals!!!! Guess it doesn't pay to be a law abiding citizen paying taxes in this country.......you just get crapped on!

I am all for helping prisoners reform while there are incarcerated. However, I paid college on my own. I had to take out loans and I am still paying them off. I will be finished hopefully by May which will be 10 years early. I have worked very hard for this and have no desire to pay for a convicted criminal to receive a free education that I had to work so hard to earn. Should I have gone to jail...not had to pay rent....and then got a free college education. That would have been much easier. I definitely do not support this bill.

I'm a single mother who will be paying loans for the next 20 years of my life. I've had a job since I was 15, I'm a hard working, law abiding citizen. Why do I have to continue to pay loans when criminals would get it for free. if they want an education, they can take out the loans like the rest of us. If you want to spend tax dollars, increase case worker jobs and child support enforcement. That whole unit is useless and a joke.

While I support giving prisoners the chance to grow and develop so that they may become contributing members of society, I find no validation in giving them a free college education. I am a law abiding citizen and lost my job of 11 years through no fault of my own. I have returned to college, but have to pay my own way. I will have a hefty student loan waiting for me after graduation, yet I will also pay taxes that will pay for a criminal to get an education?

MY TAP was cut last year! I am working my way through school BROKE barely even making it pay check to pay check and will be even more broke when my loan payments start! Also when I probably won't be able to even find a job in NYS. WHERE IS MY ASSISTANCE? I've been a NYS citizen all my life and I get screwed along with the majority of us! Cuomo you are a disgrace!

Why not give free college to deserving children who otherwise cannot attend. These people did crimes and now are getting rewarded. Oh by the way cable TV can go as well, they do not need any luxuries period! Our tax dollars should not be wasted like this!
