I am still paying on my student loans & will be for years to come. We need to help law-abiding citizens before those whom have broken the law.

Good honest, hard working people can't afford college, yet you want to give prisoners a college education?? Are you out of your mind? Why should taxpayers fund their college education??

my children paid their own way-know many young people who owe $50,000 to $100,000 in school loan-this is not right.

I can not believe it! Our kids can not afford to go to college, we can not even claim them on our taxes once they are 17, but financial aid says they are not financially independent until they are 24 - so they can not get any help to pay for college. Yet you want to just hand a free college education to anyone who goes to prison. I think you need to stop and think about it, you say it would decrease on repeat offenders! Really!!! How many of these ex-prisoners will you be hiring at the mansion one you give them their education?

Please use MY tax dollars to pay for MY four yer degree. Being convicted of a crime that sends me on a long prison term shouldn't be better for me financially when it come to getting an education. I'm a contributing tax payer, Pay my tuition!

Absolutely not. Rewarding their illegal behavior and punishing the NYS residents that are struggling to put our children through college is a slap in the face!

Why do they deserve a free higher education ? Let them do what every other law abiding citizen has to do and go into debt to obtain their degrees! You want to close prisons, thus putting more co's lives in danger, to save money. Than why turn around and just give in to the prisoners?!?! You want to do something beneficial than use the funds for schools for our youth, make them want to grow up and be a part of society, and not behind bars! Or how about the elderly, who can barely survive on what their monthly incomes are. It's sad that our government feels that prisoners are worth more than our children!!!!

Thank you for starting this petition. When I first heard about this over the weekend I was so upset! I'm stuggling to get my kids through college and it isn't fair that others can go for free!

This is absolute bull..... I had to pay for college with loans while raising 3 children. If the government gives them this what the heck will be next and the worst part is the prisoners think it is owed to them....

I'm a graduate student and have had to pay full tuition for an out of state undergrad education and now a private school graduate education. If people who cannot follow the rules of society don't have to pay for further education, why should I??
