Encourage the crime rate to go up?! Are you insane? Yeah, because I'm sure tons of people would want to list their college as "Alden Correctional Facility" on their resume. It's simply a way for them to hopefully become productive members of society when they get released. Instead, we constantly throw them back into society with no skills or education and are then dumbfounded when they go back to crime, since they can't get a job anywhere.

I'm over ten thousand dollars in debt because of college, so the fact that people would even think about giving free college to people that were deamed unfit to live in society using my tax dollars makes me physically ill.

Education is NOT free K-12. Citizens have to pay school taxes every year.

And it's a shame. How can we expect inmates to get out and lead a productive life when they are shunned for life. They did their time, and should be allowed the same opportunities going forward. Denying them even the most menial jobs causes them to lose hope and revert back to crime. It's an endless cycle.

There are kids and parents struggling to pay for college and we're going to give felons a free ride? We're still paying off college loans, 15 years later, working for all that we have and Cuomo wants to treat criminals better than law abiding citizens? They already get Free medical and dental, and cable TV! When is enough enough?

Have you ever been to jail? Because I have. If you seriously consider the free health care, food, and housing they get to be anything comparable to anything you are used to, you are sadly mistaken. "Free health care" = advil for any insane amount of pain you may have. Or, the other side, I saw someone get a tooth pulled by the medical staff because it was sore. No cavity, no infection, nothing. Just sore. And they yanked it. "Free food" = plain cheese sandwiches for lunch. Gelatin gravy on raw beef. Nearly black bananas with breakfast. "Free housing" = rooms that can be freezing cold in the winter in which windowsills can literally be used as refrigerators to keep a container of milk cold for DAYS. Your bed consists of a half-inch thick piece of foam on a solid metal frame, with a flat pillow most likely stained from years of use. Even with a pillow case, it was disgusting. So please think before you speak. They definitely do not have it as good as you think.

They are in prison for a reason, not to go to school for free. There is too many good poor people that would benefit from a good education.

I do not support this plan. Inmates should not be rewarded with a college education when middle class students struggle or face large student loan debts to complete their education. This just makes no sense.
