I can't afford to send my kid to college. Why would I want to pay for a criminal to get a degree I can't provide from my loved ones?

My daughter is paying for her higher education loans which cost her as a mortgage. Oh yeah she has one of those too!!! No no no, to inmates taking colledge courses on my state taxes.

I'm in a home with Two parents working and we can barely pay our bills and put food on the table and you want to take my tax dollars and give education to criminals who choose the wrong path - don't they get enough free already? My kids aren't going to get a ride why should they? New York State is not for the working family or any part of the Middle Class or Lower Middle class. There are no breaks for those who play by the rules.

it is highly disturbing to think that tax money that law abiding citizens pay out is going to be used as college tuition for criminals, when I am struggling to save enough for my own children. I am sorry but I have no sympathy for the inmates, everyone has a choice, no matter what the situation...they made the wrong one...

This is the worst idea that I have ever heard. What about all of the law abieding people who cannot afford tuition. All this will do is encourage crime so that while in jail, they can get the education for free that they could not afford in the real world! On top of it all, this will cost taxpayers even more because in addition to the free room and board of prision, we will need to pay for the college help, teachers and associated fees.

I am a mother of three looking to go back to school for a medical degree and I have to keep on stopping because I can't get financial aid and can't afford it. But please let's give rapists and murderers a college degree for free. Doesn't this state have enough financial issues but let's keep on adding to it so prisoners can benefit.

I will be paying for my student loans for year and I am a law abiding citizen with a masters degree in education.
