I am a graduate of Monroe Community College and a current student at SUNY Geneseo. I have worked one or more jobs at every level of my education. I've gotten up at 3am to work a shift before my 8am classes. I've worked evenings, weekends, whatever it took to finance my education as best as I can. I have never stolen, raped, attacked or otherwise done wrong by my fellow man, but through loans and my own hard work, I have earned my college education. I can not watch my fellow students & families struggle to make ends meet while this program rewards deviance. We have worked too hard to see what we've earned given away to those whose only contribution to society is crime and hardship and affliction.

When you pay for my daughters' college and pay for all the loans the students of the U.S.A., I will think about this.

I want the tap funds restored. I can see spending $1,000 on each inmate per year for some sort of training skill that could be used for a job.

how is it a right of a prisoner to get a free education, yet, non-criminal have to pay?! I love that I have 20K plus in student loan debt, but, a prisoner gets their education, room and board for free.

This could give some individuals an incentive to commit crimes for a free college education as so many have no goals anyway.

As someone who procured much student loan debt in order to go to a great university, I am baffled Gov. Cuomo could suggest this. With degrees are supposed to come rewarding careers. Law abiding, tax paying citizens should get the free college education. Not lowlife felons. Cuomo, get out of here!
