I have 2 children that will not get a free college education. Why should my tax dollars pay for criminals college education. This proposal is a slap in the face to all of the law abiding citizens .

I am losing sleep over this! I am beyond angry that Cuomo would even suggest we as honest hard working NYS residents would even remotely support this vision to college educate inmates! I work in a middle school my husband is a corrections officer my children are law abiding citizens with lots of college debt, as are my husband and I due to parent plus loans! Enough already!! Thank you Mr. Grisanti for hearing us and fighting for us and what's right!

This is the "CRAZIEST" idea I have ever seen/heard of!!! Along with allowing non Americans to open a small business TAX FREE, while BORN AND RAISED IN AMERICA HAVE TO PAY TAXES as soon as we open, no wonder small businesses can't survive!!

So my tax dollars is going to prisoners for free college education when I had to drop out of college because I couldn't afford it and now that my son is a senior in high school and next year when I can't afford to pay for him to go to college. What do I tell him go out and committ a crime so he can get a free college education? I'm living below the poverty level and I don't get no help..

maybe a GED would help these people, which is already funded by the state. Most of them probably could use to learn reading, writing and especialy math skills that I would asume they dont even have. They could be taught right there in the jail.. THANKS MARK!

As a current student at a suny university I often struggle with the expenses of college. Not only am I in debt up to my eyes but often find it hard to live in general. I think it is ridiculous to award someone who has made mistakes in their lives with a "free" education. I understand where this idea is comming from but for the faithful lawabiding citizen, this has me wondering where's my free education?

I find it absurd that our school district is shutting down programs for our kids due to lack of state funds, yet we can somehow afford to spend that money on prisoners. A college education is for people who earn it.

As the parent of child considering the military as way to offset the cost of a college education, I cannot stress how disturbing this proposition is to my family. Our son, an average child of married, middle class, working parents is not eligible for college aid. As a result, we are contemplating sending our only child into harm's way in an attempt to eventually receive a reasonable college education. Meanwhile, criminals would receive college courses for free? How can that be fair? I am educated, i understand the opposing argument, but i cannot accept that someone incarcerated has a greater advantage than citizens who follow the rules. Please oppose this plan!

My law abiding children and myself are still paying for our degrees. That is being accountable for one self. NYS didn't provide it free to us and we are law abiding citizens.
