I don't agree with giving money to inmates. It should be given to graduate students who earned it and have a future record free.

I am insulted by your proposal to provide free college classes to prisoners. My son attends college and it us extremely difficult for our family to pay together tuition, and the cost of books and supplies. Maybe you should propose free college for hard working families.

Law abiding society don't get free education. Why should prisoners get "free" education?

This is a misuse of state funds. Prisoners are in prison for a reason. It is not for their college education. They need to understand that their choices are the reason they are there. They need to learn how to make better choices in life.

I sure hope the Prisioners are required to reimburse the State for the thousands of dollars it has spent caring for then while incarcerated!

I am afraid that it will promote crime if it will give them a free education.

Don't prisons have libraries? Get rid of cable TV, and encourage library use. No more handouts at taxpayers expense.

Waste of time now that most companies are now doing back ground checks on all potential applicants. Even though "discrimination" is not allowed I can guarentee that they wouldn't get hired due to thier criminal background. A company does not have to tell one why they weren't hired. Waste of money to even try and a waste of my tax money too. Gov. Cuomo needs to give US the working American with no criminal background the $5000.00 towards Educaton as a reward for always giving our taxes to assist people that won't help thierselves.

Someone has rocks in their head, don't know what happened with the brains but really you think the people that work their butts off in this state are going to let this happen, my kids work their butts off doing the right things and they wlll have school loans probably to pay off for a long time and if they get late on their payments because they can't find a job, the state will be there knocking on their door immediately for that money but that's ok let a prisoner get his education for free and maybe end up taking that job from my child, just another reason to run more people out of this state!! Get real!!

Shame on you Cuomo for proposing this ridiculous endeavor. I'm a hard working individual buried in student loans. Prisoners should not be rewarded with a free education by committing a crime.

We are PAYING and have paid THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS - for our 3 children (honor students all) to attend college. It's killing us, financially, and our kids will be paying back student loans for YEARS. Your telling me my tax dollars should fund FREE college educations for CRIMINALS? ARE YOU SERIOUS? How about giving a break to law abiding, working, tax payers? Our middle son is about to get his dual bachelors degree in Physics and Math. He would like to attend graduate school. We can't afford it, because his younger brother starts college next fall. Should I tell him to go knock off the liquor store, and then his college education will be PAID FOR?
