SAY "NO" TO FREE COLLEGE FOR PRISONERS

If they want a college education, they can take out a loan and repay it like everyone else. Also, I think a college education, leading to a good-paying job MAY keep thieves from stealing again, but I can't see an education "curing" someone of violent crimes. Don't you dare give them a free college education. It is difficult enough for the honest, law-abiding citizens to find jobs in today's market, even with a degree that they are paying for. This state`s honest people will leave in droves in search of a place with higher moral standards.

This is unbelievable! No inmate should be gifted a free education when hard-working, honest families struggle to educate themselves and their children! What makes a criminal more deserving of a higher education than a law abiding citizen? I am a mother and I say NO to free education for prisoners!!!!

This is ridiculous. How about rewarding those who work hard and stay out of trouble instead. Not everyone comes from the best childhood but some can work with what they have instead of turning to crime.

Give this to the honest people not prisoners.

This is absurd, the rewards for prisoners needs to stop, at one time going to prison was punishment, but Liberals have made its better place to live for the incarcerated. They do not deserve college educations, cable TV, gym time etc. All the Liberals cry about prisoner's rights, what about the victims of their crimes? Why do they have less rights?

Why are we putting money into inmates when our childrens education is getting cut short. My child's school didn't even have books at the beginning of the year but we can raise taxes for inmate? How does this make sense

When we have secured affordable education for the middle class family, and restored our infrastructure, then we can consider this perk for prisoners.

I am opposed. Let them read and learn, but no earning of a free college degree.

I am still over $10,000 in debt with student loans and am busting my butt to put myself through graduate school. It is completely ridiculous that someone who has committed a crime and has been convicted of said crime can get a college education without having to worry about loans. My fiancé never went to college because he couldn't afford it and neither could his parents. He served in the Navy and is currently putting himself through a HVAC certification course to help better our lives. He deserves a chance at a free college education before any inmate does.

My children are paying student loans for college and I am paying parent plus loans for what the student loans did not cover!!! If they prisoners wish to get a college education, then they must pay for it out of the money that they earn while in prison!!! Oh, last time I checked it was more than $5000 per year to get a degree in NYS. Guess they don't have to figure in room and board!!!!!!

So, for someone without the means for college all they need to do now is commit a crime and go to jail then its, not only FREE medical, room and board, but FREE college courses and degrees too, sweet deal MORON!

Why should someone that commits a crime be given a college degree while the rest of us pay thousands for it?

I work to hard at my 2 job, volunteering in my comunity for more than 13 years and the college education I pay for out of my own pocket because I make to much money, yet barely can make ends meet for prisoners that have clearly not chosen to do the right thing and be the model citizen that deserves a paid education

the thought of this is ridiculous! Gov. Cuomo can pay me back for my tuition and all other law abiding citizens first!
