My college education is not free, neither was my son's. No more freebies for incarcerated population. They are being punished, not on a state paid vacation.

my family is almost $50,000 in debt so that our child could go to college. Guess we should have just encouraged him to become a criminal. Where are the incentives and rewards for being an upstanding, law abiding citizen??! Did I mention that in a household where we struggle to pay all our bills my son did not get ONE PENNY in financial aid. Eight more years and we will be gone from this suck @$$ state called New York.

Why not take the $5000 per inmate to build a new prison? I have to pay my college back.

This state is broke, our kids that actually have not committed any crimes (yet) are falling behind academically at epic proportions, yet we want to give money to prisoners who already get 3 hots and cot + cable/internet... Cuomo administration is retarded!

I don't believe prisoners should be given such privileges , they gave up any rights when they decided to break the law. We need to get our youth the opportunity to a college education

I believe education provides hope. However this plan is very shortsighted as the message it sends counterproductive. Where is the justice and hard work ethic of our founding fathers gone?

I am totally against your proposal to give criminals a free college education. How dare you even think of such a thing? I have 3 law abiding children who have never gotten into trouble and they will be paying off their school loans until they are grandparents of adults! These are the type of people you should be giving free education to, not the scum bags that fill up our prisons! You are sending the wrong message to our young people. Instead of staying out of trouble and working hard to get ahead in life, why not get into a little trouble and get a free education? Great idea Cuomo! NOT!!!!!

This is a highly offensive proposition to those of us who worked so hard to pay off our student loans.
