I agree with the Senator. Law abiding citizens should be helped, not inmates. As a graduate from UB with my bachelors and masters, a little TAP help would have made things a little easier on someone like me, who makes the right choices in life and respects the law.

unbelievable! I know so many hardworking families that can't afford to send their kids to school and we are going to educate prisoners for free! Sickening

You have got to be kidding! College is a privilege. Inmates gave up their privileges when they committed their crime!

This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of. My son works hard while struggling to pay his college debt. These people are paying a debt to society and they're going to be rewarded with something law abiding citizens have to sacrifice for to acheive?

I'm currently over $38,000 in college debt, and that is low compared to some of my friends who owe 50-80K!!! Help those who strive for excellence, not those who deliberately attempt to cut corners and disregard the rules of our society

Make them take out student loans. State gets income on interest.

This is ridiculous! I bust my butt to pay off my college loans. There is no way inmates should be given a free college education.

Why should a criminal get free education when law abiding citizens can't afford it.

I have to break my back to make ends meet due to high education costs. For someone who made a chocie to commit a crime, they should not be rewarded. Reform should be through hard work. Make them earn their way like everyone else. Make prisons self sustaining again, like attica use to be. If they want an education, then they need to earn it and pay for it with sweat equity like everyone else.

I am trying to save for three children to go to college. I don't feel I should have to pay for someone who made their bed and now must deal with the consequences..

My daughter and I have been paying her college expenses since 2003 and will continue for the next 20 years..Why should inmates get their education free. If you are giving it to them free then you need to pay my daughters student loans ..

Robert Davies You go to jail because you broke the law. You rights and privileges should be restricted. Prisoners should have to carry their own weight. Work details, cleaning highways, maintaining prisons and other public venues paint snow plows in the off season paint guard rails. Working is learning a skill.
