My first wife was shot in the back and killed as my first daughter was about to turn 4 months old, I remarried and struggled to help my kids as much as possible with college. My 22 year old daughter has a hard time getting theloans and help she needs but I should help pay for the man who killed my first wife?

This is crazy. I have 4 daughters that all went to college and I am watching them struggle everyday to pay back loans!!! For every free ride to a prisoner then the adult paying (or trying ) to pay back a loan should also get thier loan forgiven.

Concentrate on lowering taxes, and eliminating unfunded mandates.Worry about those who actually contribute to the State.

I am for reform for prisoners. However enabling criminals to receive a free education is outrageous. I chose to live within the law , work, pay taxes, and because of the cost of health care, my credit is in shambles and I cannot complete my last seven classes to receive my Bachelor's degree. I am doing everything society expects and I can't get my education "paid for" but let's educate for free people who chose a life of crime. what is wrong with this country, and more importantly this state?

They are there for a reason! It's bad enough we have to work hard for the welfare OUT of jail, but now the welfare and scumbags IN jail get to get a college education that we can't afford for ourselves much less our own children! If they pass this bullshit.....I'm moving out of Ny Hell hole State! That's awesome they would be willing to provide college credits to baby touches and rapist and murderers! Maybe they can take them classes and become a social service worker when they get out!!!#

We are a very hard working family - living within our means - no extras. Three children - one just graduated college, one currently in college and one will be attending in12 years. My children will be in debt for a long time because of their college education. It is hard to teach your children to be honest and hardworking when so much is given to people who break the law. There are really very little consequences. Law abiding citizens always get the short end of the deal. I am very against this plan!!!

This is rediculas. I can barly afford to live and support my children. Don't know if I will be able to send them to college if and when that time comes. It's discussing to think that prisoners will get a free education. In this case I should teach my kids to be criminals so they get free food, shelter, school, college, television, game systems, and whatever else they get in jail. There are ppl outside of jail that don't even get fed or electronics yet criminals do and we pay for this. If their in jail for committing a crime, they should have their cell, bed and a deck of cards and nothing else to entertain themselves. Why do the criminals live better than a non-criminal??
