I don't believe in rehabilitation & I don't believe in supporting prisoners at any level. Why doesn't Cuomo give $5000 to every deserving college student?

Absolutely ridiculous. our own american students can't have a chance of getting into college...WE have to wait for foriegners to go first. Now you want to give prisners an education. TOTALLY INSANE!

I do not agree with this. I will be paying off my student loans for years. It's not fair to honest, hardworking people. Employers will not hire ex-convicts so why waste taxpayer money.

I cannot see giving someone who was found guilty for murder have the opportunity for a free education for whatever reason gave the opportunity up when put in jail.

I consider myself a tolerant, open minded, compassionate person, but I do not agree with this proposal AT ALL. I am a law abiding citizen and I work my tail off, and 12 years out I still have five figures worth of student loans. I under wanting to reduce recidivism, but this is a slap in the face to law abiding citizens who do not have the opportunity for a free education.

Civic reform is in order and in no way shape or form can be derived from individuals whom have deemed themselves unproductive to society. Shock camps are being closed, law abiding citizens are losing their jobs, more leniency is granted to individuals committing "low risk" crimes, what type of criminal would benefit from this? will companies get tax breaks for hiring criminals vrs. a tax payer whom has to pay for their own education? Do we really have to ponder the reality why young educated new yorker's are LEAVING state?!

It's time for Cuomo to go. It shocks me that someone would actually think this is a good plan.

I watch too many kids and their families struggle to get a college education. They work part time jobs to get through school and continue paying loans for many years after graduating. I can't in good faith support free education to people that have committed crimes while the law-abiding citizens are struggling. Why don't we have a plan in place to help the families that are trying to be responsible. What message does this send to good, law abiding people? I think there is a place to educate inmates but this is just wrong. And while I'm at it, why are we offering free housing to kids who are abusing drugs? And, at the same time, funds are being cut from Organizations who are trying to help these kids turn their life around while at the same time asking them to show some responsibility such as continuing their education or getting a job. This is just so screwed up.

The politicians are making it harder for the middle class to get ahead in life that I can't in good conscience support this proposal from governor cuomo. Help out the middle class with college expenses before criminals.
