No! While everyone else has college loans to pay including myself, for which I am starting Law School next year, this is a huge slap in the face to the students that are trying to make something of themseleves. Then you have to compete with a felon with a degree in the job market, please rethink your strategy. Stick with a trade, not a degree.

I had NYS Higer Education Loans I paid them off! I have not committed any crimes. My daughter is a college senior she works and has loans and grants she gets no other assistance As I am so poor I can not afford to pay for her higher education. She has committed no crimes. I thought when you commit crimes you lose your rights. I don't understand why the stated would pay for prisioners when they can't help law abiding people. I just do not get it. I say NO to this proposal. Good GOD NO!

This is a disgrace to taxpayers, hard working individuals trying to pay their way through school and to anyone affected by someone incarcerated. Shame on you Cuomo!

No to free college for prisoners, what are they thinking, is there going to be any drawbacks to going to prison? Why make it better for prisoners than law obeying people who have to pay. Rewarding for disobeying the law is NEVER a good idea, this should be a no brainer.

I'm paying off my student loans thru my SSD and I struggled to put my daughter thru school. NO way should we tax payers have to foot this bill.

I worked a full time and a part time job while going to college with a full course load without one dime's worth of support from the Gov't. Help them with a GED, that's enough!

Cost per inmate is crazy high now...they are already learning work skills in prison...this new proposal could actually increase crime rates

What a slap in the face for all the "good" people who know how to stay out of prison, and have to pay for their own education. Bad move Cuomo especially if you plan on running for President!!!!

Cuomo what are you thinking??? My great kids have an extra mortgage payment every month paying for their degrees. Why should losers in jail and people who don't work get everything handed to them (welfare, food stamps, etc.)and now handed a degree WTF!!!!

The most taxing state keeps coming up with more social programs, mandatory preschool? ex con medicaid? prisoner college? Meanwhile pedophiles are moved into neighborhoods by this same moronic state government!

No, No and No! There are so many kids whose parents can't afford to send them to college to help. This would send a message that you need to go to jail to afford college!

I understand it is difficult for prisoners to get a job especially if they do not have the education. They chose to commit a crime rather than education. I chose to go to college to get a degree and I have to pay for my schooling. It is promoting the prison life rather than helping law abiding citizens.

Like Senator Grisanti, I feel we should be putting money towards preventing the situations which cause these people to be incarcerated in the first place. There are many hardworking parents (mine were two) who can't afford to send their children to college, so it should never be right to allow criminals to get a "free ride"!!
