My son diod all the right things in school and I paid for his college do to that. To force me to pay for someone that commited a crime, almost seems like a crime itself. How can you tell me I have to do this because I live in NY? If you like this idea so much then dig into your own pocket to pay for it. My son deserved this right and it is a right!

The state and federal government need to take care of law abiding citizens with student loan debt first. I agree prisoners should have a college education but make them pay for it like everyone else. Make them take out student loans too. Or make them earn money at prison jobs to pay for it. Or leave it to area colleges to offer an incentive for prisoners to earn a college degree. Giving prisoners a free education shows people that being a criminal can be an acceptable lifestyle not a punishment. All this does is shows the middle class the government does not care about them and sees them as the bank system to bailout people who can't or won't take care of themselves. Prisoners are there for a reason. They broke the law. Make them earn their way back into society, don't just handouts.

If you can get a free college education in jail ,won't that send the wrong messsage. Some people will actually commit a crime just to be college educated

Doesnt surprise me coming from Cuomo, but really? We have good citizens who can't afford a college education and you want to give it for free to prisoners?!?! Makes total sense, great job Cuomo. A+++++

This is absolutely unacceptable. I really wonder if any point during my life I will see first hand a Governor that makes common sense decisions for the people of New York State. It is getting very old having the "same old" politician buddy system that keeps circulating the "John Kerrys" of the world.
Is the Gov crazy..Hard working ,honest NY citizens have to pay big to educate their children and the Gov wants us to pay the dishonest a free trip to college ..HELL NO

I'm poverty level income - my kids have students loans so they can stay in college - make the prisoners take out student loans that they pay back when they start working after release! Give them Responsibility not rewards!
