Governor Cuomo has no right to give away tax payers money to criminals and expect non crimainals to pay for a college education. They should have a student loan just like everyone else.

They should have to get some kind of student loan just like law abiding students...this might encourage someone to break the law even though it's a stupid way to think,to get a free education.

Make them work for it like we have to. That will be punishment enough for most of them.

This program is extremely misguided and I do not believe in funding it. Money would be better spent on counseling the inmates and helping them with mental health issues, including drug and alcohol addiction and past abuse.

As a financial aid director for a non-profit college, I find this apprehensible that I have students that cannot afford to attend our College for lack of financial resources. Now, the state wants to give those "gold resources" to inmates.

ARE YOU REALLY AFRAID TO COMMENT ON THIS???? Slap in the face to all taxpayers, vets, homeless, no minimum wage increase, cuts on loans and grants for students. But people jailed for committing crimes, yes criminals NY spends 65,000.00 now to house and take care of criminals. I sure don't make that much a year. our service men don't get that much a year. People on social security live in poverty. Where is your respect Mr Cuomo, people are in jail for a reason not a vacation. If you have that much to spend over several jailed inmates, give it back to the legit people paying your salary people who suffer paying taxes and break their backs to make a living. What the hell is wrong with your thinking. There are other things and ways these criminals can learn to behave.

As a former corrections officer, I can say that this is a complete waste of resources. I'd rather see inmates TRAINED in the trades. How can you expect any employer to hire EX-Cons just because they have a degree from Attica U. But a contractor may hire someone with a diploma in a trade. Why waste money on a system that, due to the actual mental state of many inmate types ( seen over 20 years in correctional facilities) learning to use their muscles is more important to them than increasing their memory. Give them something they can use, something that will benefit all of us.

I am currently in the middle class struggling to pay for my own college education. Why doesn't Cuomo offer services for those who are actually doing something in society instead of allowing these idiots who have become a drudge on society reap all of the benefits. Its time to give back to those who work hard, not those who don't work at all.

As an elected Official, I see numerous times, where our Senior Citizens are losing their homes, because they can't afford the rising taxes from the Unfunded Mandates that are forced upon them. I'm AGAINST Cuomo's proposal, to give free classes to incarcerated individuals in State Prisons.

I have many years of paying back my student loans for the 6 years of college all together. It is not even feasible to me to give this opportunity to convicted felons. They made their choice, they are not allowed to even apply or get accepted at a college as a convited felon, so why should they be afforded that opportunity at no cost. Absolutely Not!
