No! Our 2 daughters went in to debt for college. Why should our taxes educate convicts for free?!!

I do not think that bad behavior should be rewarded with a college education. There are WAY to many honest, hardworking people who would love to go back and get an education but can not afford to. I think its a slap in the face to the hard working individuals.

This is ridiculous! More entitlement mentality for our leaders. This crazy stuff has me seriously considering bailing on this state very soon! Never thought I would say this.

My kids had to pay for college. Stop giving free rides to people who do the wrong the thing. If they want to go they should have to go through the motions like everyone else. You are always going after the wrong people. Start doing the right thing!

REALLY?? Absolutely NOT! Why would Cuomo even think about educating inmates/criminals for FREE so they can be productive individuals in society? As an employer, would you hire ANYONE with a criminal record regardless of their education? I would hope not. These individuals are serving time for a reason and should not be rewarded.

Good for you for trying to stop this redicualous idea. We have law abiding citizens that would love to send their kids to college but can't afford it. Lets spend money on educating to keep kids out of the prison system. Also, most companies do criminal background checks and felons would not even be allowed in, wasting tax payers money for college. Also, I am in property management and I can not even move felons into my properties. It is no wonder why our kids are leaving NYS and not returning...I have 2 sons who are fighting for this country who won't come back when they get out of the military. Very sad.

prison is supposed to be punitive. I cannot afford a ph.d. so maybe I should commit a crime.

The creation of educated criminals. Absolutely rediculous. Help the good kids that can't afford college tuitions.

Everyone should have an education, however, a trade program can be equally rewarding. While I believe inmates should be able to pursue a college education, it should not be a "perk" or provided for free by the state. If they want it, they need to work off that debt to cover the cost of their tuition. College should not be a free service to those who have already demonstrated an obvious lack of respect to their community.
