Still paying for MY kids!

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. My wife and I have been out of college for 14 years and we are still paying for it. Why reward someone for breaking the law?

If myself, a hard working New Yorker that abides by the law and has to pay back my student debt while barely providing a good life for my family has to pay back 500+ in student loans a month, it shouldn't be just given to criminals who are locked up, especially since it most certainly was not there first run in with the law. These people had more than one opportunity to better themselves and chose not to. We should not have to pay more than we already do to support these people!

Totally off the wall & in line with our Govrnors Liberal line of thinking. He cuts aid to schools for tax paying citizens' children , Then comes up with this!

If a criminal wants a college degree, he or she should have to pay for it. Why should they be excluded from payment? Tax payers and their children aren't!

no way. It's not a college education that changes a perosn, it's educating teaching them about life

As a retired NYS correctional officer, I know ny inmates get enough perks at huge taxpayer expense. This is about Cuomo getting votes, not whats best for new yorkers.

that isn't fair for the kids who want to go to college but can't because their parents can't afford to send them. They are in prison for a reason and shouldn't get a free ride, while other people have to pay for years on loans or don't go at all. The people in prison are criminals and should be treated like criminals and not pampered. I disagree with this whole heartedly. Do not do this, I as a mother of two kids will eventually get to college because of the hard work of their parents getting money together to send them

Honest people need help. Reward them, not criminals. Let people learn that it is honesty, hard work, etc that earn rewards, not crimes.

This would be an absolute slap in the face of hard working law abiding citizens who cannot afford a college education. Clearly Cuomo believes that he can impose his will at his leisure as he did with the safe act.

My husband and I are currently struggling to put 3 children through college with NO assistance as we are not deemed eligible. And Mr. Cuomo wants me to feel good and support incarcerated individuals free college education....give me a break. We spent the past 25 years parenting, guiding and encouraging our children to keep them on the right track and out of jail....well maybe a few years in the pen would have been more beneficial in the long run. Mr. Cuomo you just lost our entire Democratic household votes. You have gone off the deep end sir.

I know too many young adults struggling with debt from trying to make a better life for themselves to watch funding go to prisoners.

How about letting the public voting on it for a change? Or will this be slipped through like the S.A.F.E. Act?
