Cheshire Press Pause on Summit

My daughter is on the teal team at Dodd and enjoys the Summit Program. Recently her team held a debate at school regarding Summit. It was a positive experience for her. (Not all their time is spent on a computer) I see benefits to the program. With that said, I do not believe the material was properly reviewed prior to summit deployment. The sheer fact that we are still facing issues with content months after it has been brought to the Board of Education's attention concerns me. For that reason I've decided to sign the petition. A program of this magnitude needs to be properly vetted before introducing it to our education system. Parents should not be responsible for this process.

Let’s give our kids the best we can...no need to rush this program!

I have grandchildren in Cheshire schools and I don't like what I am hearing (and seeing!) about this program. I think you should end it, at least for now. Cheshire schools were excellent before this.

I do not agree with this program. It is not appropriate for children to be exposed to certain things. Such programs should warrant parent consent and I do not consent to this sort of material.

This is not okay.

I moved to Cheshire in August for a better school system for my children and this Summit program isn’t up to par with what I had come to expect of Cheshire.

At this juncture I have seen little to no proof that the Summit teaching/learning program has an substantive value. What i HAVE seen is a program being rolled out with no clear understanding of whether or not it actually works. PROVE to me it has value and improves education and helps our kids with critical thinking skills. Don't just tell me, SHOW me.

Cheshire schools are fine the way they are. Introducing a largely untested program is unnecessary and reckless

I would not like to see This program reach high school. I have heard Ok comments about exact sciences but would hate to see this implementation in classes which require live discussions and teacher guidance

Children are NOT robots and should not be taught by computer programs.

I believe this program needs to be put ‘on hold’ to evaluate the pros and cons.

Until supportive data is presented and found to substantially enhance townwide educational statistics, by an impartial body and in communities of similar socio-economic profile, this curriculum has no place in Cheshire schools.

As an educator who school system has implemented an on line learning platform I feel this is not a future I believe is beneficial to the majority of the student population .

I am very disappointed with this entire program.

Take the time to truly review this program so you can realize what the children are seeing. Look at the messages they are learning. Is this what we want our children engaged in?

I am CHS ‘85 and I think there are too many unknowns. You must pause. My parents moved to Cheshire in large part due to the school system. Why fix something that isn’t broken? Please, slow down and take the comments seriously and do your due diligence. Thoroughly vett this and answer the questions of the parents as a way to be more informed about the choice you are making. Thank you
