Please reconsider your plan to implement this program.

Our kids deserve better than to be babysat by a computer screen all day. Parents wake up you’re already enslaved to your smartphones, you’re allowing the same thing to happen to our kids at a very young age. Plus the teacher standards will drop as they no longer will have as much responsibility and part in our kids education. Mark Zuckerberg and the NWO will have control of our kids.

I am signing this petition as a parent from a district in Ohio that also started a petition to remove the Summit PLP. I am signing as a supporter and advocate.

My daughter is not happy with the Summit program... we feel it is limiting the classroom experience and making the school year more like a home schooling experience

Might not be a bad way to teach older students, but not elementary or even middle school...

Human interaction between a child and their teacher is the true key to success.

Too much time using electronics has cost our children the ability to focus and learn the basic fundamentals of handwriting, writing, and communication. No wonder so many children cannot sit still in class and remain focused for any great length of time! Education has cut out the basic fundamentals which has weakened our system and is failing our children! We need to scale back on the electronics, protect our children's privacy, and go back to the basics (they never failed the generations prior to this generation!).

Michelle Klem, Summit is a free program, and I know of no grant money received. We did get chrome books for 5th grade, but now sure how many, which schools etc.

Thank you for creating this petition! The summit program should have been offered as an opt out program from the beginning. My husband and I had to go to the superintendent to remove our daughter from the program. The Dodd principal had no interest in helping us change her to the traditional way of learning. This was also the first time I have been extremely disappointed in the Cheshire school system. I also would like to know how much money in grant funds did the Cheshire public school receive for signing up? Considering our town will be under state budgets cut, was the grant funding the main reason for implementing the program? If so, it should have gone out to vote.

My daughter did something similar last year and it was not good she was missing a lot of the fundamentals how do you teach yourself something you don’t know

My kids love the Summit Program. They have even participated in a debate at school as Pro Summit. However I am signing as I do agree with the concerns raised about privacy, content review prior to deployment, etc. I don't believe a thorough review of the summit curriculum, lesson plans, and assessments were reviewed prior to deploying. I have a daughter with only 7 focus areas left out of a total of 72 that was assigned for the year. While I appreciate the benefit of kids learning at a different pace, we're not even done with the 2nd marking period. I'm concerned kids are not fully learning the material but maybe just learning to pass a content assessment. Is there discussion during classroom, participation, dialog with the teacher to see if children fully understand? Are the kids able to apply what they have learned and how are the teachers assessing this? I also don't believe they receive adequate mentoring time with the teacher.

We should not be replacing teachers with computers, at this age level. Children already spend TOO MUCH time using electronics. They need social interaction with peers and teachers to learn how to verbalize their thoughts and feelings.

This is a demonstration of regression for our education.

I am against the Summit Learning Platform for the general sake of children's different learning styles as well as the numerous concerns about privacy, content, extended screen time and lack of student-teacher interaction!

I am a grandparent of two children at Doolittle School. I am a retired educator. I know that the vast majority of teachers go into teaching to make a difference in the lives of young learners and that they relish the task of working with children in nurturing their growth and attending to their needs. I BELIEVE IN TEACHERS!! I am also the past President of a PTA Council in a different district. And a past Vice President of CT PTA. For generations parents have been entrusting their children to school district administrators and BOE for leadership in instructional curricula. IMO, by allowing the Summit pilot into the CPS, the CPS administration and BOE has failed students, parents, and the community. An instructional curriculum that passes our students off to an electronic platform of computerized lessons that are part of a digital menu of choices written and developed by someone who has no understanding of our children, our community, or our needs is simply wrong.

There have been two studies done, one A 2007 Reuters report and the other a 2010 university of CA, both showed that children learn best when dealing with a caring adult who instinctively make changes to their speech, behavior, and information based on an interaction with the child. To me, this is just another example of the dumbing down of America.

No to the Summit Program in Cheshire.

Technology can never be the solution.

We don't have the staffing capabilities to be able to give proper instruction; therefore, how can we ask this of our teachers? There would be a trickle effect, and the children shouldn't have to feel the consequences.
