Bad enough they take 10%, plus listing fees if you have a price in mind, or if you add larger pictures, which sometimes are a must for an item, but they also take 3.4% if payment is made via PayPal, which ironically is the preferred method, quickest and most likely. Do they not make enough charging a flat 10% including PayPal fees, they are the largest of their kind and global as it is

Nothing short of scandalous profiteering. It will no doubt have a wide affect on trade and transactions but of course that does't concern them !!

All of Ebay and Paypal charges are shocking but a FVF on P and P is a step too far.

I am totally disgusted about the eBay FVF. I haven't sold anything on eBay for ages, now that I was doing a clear out of magazines decided to maybe get a few pounds for them. Well I just came to realize that eBay and paypal are gonna get 80p on profit compare to me that I'll get 40p if a magazine sells. I didn't have to pay insertion fee, but if I've had to, I'd be left with a whooping 5 p. I think the charity shop may be a better option that making this big multimillion companies even richer.

Trust E-bay to make on people- no wonder some of the international sellers no longer have reasonably priced postage- they have to cover for it - well I for one am not happy and am definitely considering not using e-bay again

This is a very unfair charge and put people off using ebay to sell, how can ebay justify taking 10% of postage costs when they have no part in the postage of the item.

This is terrible! In the long run I think it will discourage international commerce through eBay.

utterly stupid and underhanded way of introducing a stealth charge on postage. Perhaps E-Bay should allow its customers to rate Royal Mail and lets see how many defect strikes they get, and will they get banned from E-Bay for lack of performance and meeting delivery scheduled service agreements

It is outrageous to charge a FVF on something which is basically an overhead to sell an item. Anyone who makes a fair P&P charge and then receives the P&P from the buyer is using that to pay for the P&P themselves. The P&P is nothing gained. I am in fact LOSING money by selling any of my unwanted personal possessions on ebay now because I am NOT receiving all of the P&P charge to do the postage AND packaging and cost for getting to the post office, so in effect it is costing me money above and beyond whatever I receive in P&P from the buyer to then wrap it and take it post office. This is unethical of ebay and they don't deserve to keep sellers if they keep this charge. No one is happy about it. I can't get around it by increasing cost of the item or the P&P because otherwise my item would not be a comparable price to others. Outrageous. This has literally doubled the cost of selling very low price items. I recently ended up with 40p after a sale the other day because the fees were more than the item i sold! Another example, I sold an unwanted book to Australia today. The international signed-for postal cost with packing is very high for this at around £14 so I've ended paying another £1.40 in fees just to get the item sent from the UK! Since my sold item was only £12 and then I deducted the FVF on that and paypal fee, I only ended up with keeping £8.93. This means that I did not get all of my expensive postage costs to Australia properly covered by the sale and THAT is really unfair. The whole point of charging P&P separately to the cost of item to the buyer is to be able to cover those costs. But today, I ended up not even meeting my own P&P cost because of that P&P fee so I am out of pocket on the postage. Ebay must stop this nonsense because otherwise sellers will just use other methods to sell their stuff and stop giving ebay any business. They think they are being clever by offering free insertion fee weekends, but that does not make up for the postage FVF

It's ridiculous how they have the cheek to do this! People are actually loosing money because of Ebay's greed! Making it worse is capping the amount of postage you can charge, how would Ebay know how big/heavy your parcel is?!
