It has come to our noticed that our current NASPA executives have signed a contract with GLICO life and was witnessed by the scheme. The policy is said to provide life insurance cover for every service personnel within the country which we see not to be prudence. How can we be insured without our notice. Why should you sign someone up for an insurance policy in absentia? Why should I spend on something I've not budgeted for?
Does signing up for national service render one incapacitated mentally? Such that strangers have to self-task themselves to make financial decisions for the NSS personnel without his consent? What happened to the freedom and justice we boast of in this country? Does this freedom not encompass one's freedom to have full control over how his or her hard earned money is spent? Are our leaders (NASPA executives) to serve us in our best interests, or to subdue us, and wade through their oppressive rule every twelve months?
So what happens in the event that nobody gets injured or dies? We get nothing and somebody takes all the money?
Besides, all the things they are talking about now are already catered for in the NASPA constitution.
You can read the article 13(3.7) and 21 (7)
We see this insurance policy as a scheme to pilfer our stipend to grease the accounts of a self-seeking company we have no business and agreement with, and we won't allow it!
We plan to send this petition to the acting National Service Secretariat Mustapha Ussif.
