After having attended the Club meeting last night, and having listened to all sides of this argument, we are withdrawing our names from this petition. We feel that this has been an important learning experience for everyone involved. Our elected Oldfield Board needs our support, talent, and help right now to move forward with all the many venues on their plate. The grievances in this petition pale in comparison with the issues that we, as a community must face, in this coming year. We are in our infancy and this is a time for support and unity. We sincerely hope that you will all join in this endeavor.

Future Oldfield success will depend on our ability to, 1) sell and preserve the value of being an Oldfield member, and, 2) engage the developer(s) to honor obligations to sell critical mass of golf memberships and dues-paying lots to support economic viability and our private, membership model. It's all about the privilege of Oldfield membership.

I believe the OCA Board and the Club Board, in the interest of transparency should and must disclose any prior knowledge of the "Come Play at Oldfield"; provide a cost analysis of the prior program; and if in fact Mr. Selby acted without authority of the Board(s) or worse at the bequest of TI or Bald Eagle, then removal of Mr. Selby as the General Manager needs to be seriously considered. The fact that the exclusive use of the Oldfield facilities was done in the past to the benefit of TI is not sufficient argument for continuation of the violation of Class A Members rights post turnover.
If nothing else, this should encourage if not require the Board(s) to investigate all past programs, outside use for money (weddings, holiday parties, etc.) and track the "income" generated and disposition of such income with consideration that such use of Oldfield facilities did in fact deprive Oldfield owners and residents of exclusive use pursuant to the Bylaws, and thus, TI may have in fact been involved with theft of use, meaning any money generated after payment of overhead (food, personal, etc..) was not at the TI's to use for any purpose other then payment to members in such manner as agreed to, not for use to pay TI's legal responsibilities to pay any short falls.
The Board(s) should also consider exercising the issue of fiduciary defined by how I believe was the attorney retained by the OCA to compel the TI and Bald Eagle board members to disclose everything they have knowledge that could benefit or injury Oldfield in any manners, as well as any Board member who was provided any such knowledge regardless of an alleged non-disclosure agreement. The greater duty of the Board members is to the community, not their personal or business interest.
The whole Oldfield community must come together with a common interest in securing economic wellbeing for Oldfield.

The lack of full disclosure here is very disturbing.
I can't help but feel this one issue is indicative of much more that is going on that we don't know about.
I believe it would be healthy to have Wayne Lilley, with all his years of Oldfield knowledge, work on the legal committee to Keep a true pulse on what is going on. I hope he expresses an interest in that committee .
Checks and balances are a very good concept.

Rob I can confirm that in the email we received from "The Presidents" Letter 1 it listed, "the rules allow for a non-board member to serve as Treasurer. Jamie Selby will serve in this capacity for BOTH boards", meaning the OCA and OCC. How in the world was this not a voted on position, as this position is the ONE position that is in charge of ALL of Oldfield's money??

I do not feel it is appropriate to offer free full amenity trial memberships for 3 months to non-residents when I as a resident of Oldfield have to pay $1700 for a limited membership for the same time period.

I am concerned, but not surprised that our elected Community representatives are not keeping us informed of ridiculous back door agreements and are not looking out for our interests. The general manager should not be associated with Oldfield any more.

The Board of Directors may employ for the Club a Club Manager at such compensation as the Board may establish, to perform such duties and services as Board shall authorize. The Board may delegate such powers as are necessary to perform the Club Manager's assigned duties, but shall not delegate policymaking authority.

It's my understanding that only the Boards have the authority to make policy, and the management agent is tasked with carrying out that policy. The responsibility for this decision lies with the Boards, and disavowing knowledge is unacceptable and deceitful. Oldfield needs a real plan to bring back the value of the community and a marketing plan to sell that value to a qualified, targeted audience.

Since this format might make it to the meeting, and I may not, I'm going to paste a copy of a comment that I just made in Wally's original post. They are comments that I would like the board to address.
Can anyone tell me who authorized this marketing plan? Prior to pulling the trigger on any policy that effects the community to this level, it first needs to be brought before each and every homeowner in Oldfield.
I think that we need to know if Jamie has the authority to institute this type of broad policy on his own. If so, we might want to initiate a discussion with the board to limit his authority in these regards.

It's really pretty amazing that this program is"free", especially considering residents are currently paying some pretty substantial dues and most aren't able to utilize the golf course (other than the token 10 rounds a year), unless they have a golf club membership.
I recall that before my husband and I decided to purchase in Oldfield, we stayed (two separate times) at both the river and golf cottages at a cost of $299 a night, which included access to all that oldfield has to offer..... "for the day". Don't ask me how, but somehow, we were able to determine just how great Oldfield was without getting freebies for 3-months straight.
Does anybody know if Bernie Sanders came up with this bright idea???
