I am insulted that this atrocity would even be in consideration. As a Taino myself I am appalled that a statue of the man that massacred my people and stole their land would be a statue. Heck no. I do not approve and I sign this petition against such statue. What an insult and slap in our faces.

Please do not support this. It is because of this geonocide our own families and children as well as other states in the United States don't know the heritage and culture and believe the lie that taints were extinguished when in fact we were integrated and cosseted 'white' or simply murdered or forced to flee the same as every other Native American tribe assimilated by the colonization efforts

As a descendant of indigenous people we need to do more to educate through resources, not continue the education of European history as told through a "savior" lens.
