My family is moving out of our house (on the corner of Caldwell and Alden Place Drive NE) because of this ruling. The original intention was to move out in late 2015 or early 2016, but this new development on the lot behind our home has tied our hands and forced us to make quick, unwarranted decisions. This ruling is literally displacing families (emphasis on literally - we moved out of our home this week). By building townhomes on the lot in question, this section of the neighborhood will officially be the most aesthetically inconsistent section of the neighborhood. This section of Caldwell will now host 1. The edge of the POST apartments, 2. The 1-story apartments across the street form the lot in question 3. The homes on Alden Place cul de sac and now 4. The 3-story townhomes. I've visited this lot many times in my 6 years living on Alden Place. It was my privilege to assist the elderly woman who resided in the single family home by picking up her leaves monthly and mowing her lawn. It was also my privilege to sell Boy Scout popcorn to this woman that she then passed on to her grandchildren, an impact that spreads generations and made me happy to be her neighbor. Now I can't imagine it would be beneficial to the health of the community to cripple the possibility that a young Boy Scout could one day mow that lawn again all because a developer wants to make an extra buck. Maybe the developer of this lot could take a lesson from the Scout Law and realize he, or she, should be Trustworthy, Loyal, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent to himself and his community. I genuinely feel the pain of the left half of Alden Place Drive who will no longer be able to enjoy the green privacy of their own backyards because their fence no longer features age-old trees, but rather the walls of unwanted townhomes. I've babysat many times for the families on the left half of the cul de sac (those facing the townhomes) and recall great times playing soccer in th

SLOW DOWN on the rezoning and building. I think we are going crazy and in the years to come will see real problems.

There is no need for this kind of rezoning / tree decimation / increase in asphalt and run off. The rezone does not keep in the character of the neighborhood, and needs to be denied categorically.

This would definitely not be an improvement for Brookhaven. It would also have a very negative impact on the immediate neighbors.
