Say NO to a Busy Day Care Center in Green Knolls, Eastchester!

The traffic flow in green knolls needs to be addressed. This residential neighborhood is not zoned for such business and will increase an already dangerous thru traffic pattern in this neighborhood. People unfortunately speed through green knolls on downer ave and Stratford rd as a short cut to avoid the lights at Scarsdale ave and maple. Drop off and pickup at a daycare will add to the already unsafe conditions for children and pedestrians as well as local neighbors driving to and from their homes. Please address our concerns.

If you look at where these cars would have to park for pick up and drop off, even 10 would cause a huge imposition, as they would likely line the east side of Downer and/or the west side of Scarsdale- right where those 2 roads (Scarsdale and Downer) bottle neck into Harney. Walking in that area, especially with toddlers at those times of day is unsafe. There have been many times during rush hour when I personally couldn't make a left onto Harney from Downer due to traffic - and had to wait a full light cycle to make a second attempt. Encouraging even more cars to use that intersection during rush hour is untenable. The applicant spoke about 15 children, yet the application mentioned 25. Furthermore, it is incredulous that the representative for the applicant said at the last planning board meeting that drop off and pick up of toddlers is very quick and only takes essentially a few minutes. It is clear he never dropped off a toddler anywhere!

I am opposed to the Day Care Center at 32 Harney Road. Location is currently too busy & too dangerous for GKGV residents. Adding more cars & people to this location will only increase the danger.

Strongly oppose to this busy traffic corner. Especially for children and families that will attend. It’s a real safety issue and traffic congestion for our community.

Very dangerous intersection - cars come flying through the Yield Sign. Worried about a young child getting hit by a car in this intersection.

After listening to the presentation from the day care center I was not convinced they had a good plan for addressing concerns from our neighborhood or that the site was appropriate for day care.

I am against this Day Care Facility.

Asa longtime resident of GreenKnolls I strongly oppose the daycare. It would be foolhardy to allow a daycare center in this residential neighborhood. There have been numerous complaints of traffic issues that indicate a disaster waiting to happen. I see absolutely no reason why this application should be approved.

The town should deny this request for a Special Use Permit.
