PLEASE stop turning Chicago into NYC with these multi-unit apartment buildings that have zero parking! Really illogical decisions that will actually make it worse to live here.

this area is already congested, overbuilt, has empty retail & restaurant spaces, tight street parking, busy/heavy traffic and other new construction going up. this proposed rental behemoth is NOT what is needed at this location. please hear what those who LIVE and OWN in this community have to say. thank you.

Increased density and lack of green space sets a precedent for other developments to follow. This is not what our community wants.

The proposed building at 3950 is way out of proportion and character for this area. There is no need whatsoever for such a project here. Our environment and our climate will do better with less concrete and more green.
I live across from one of these "transit-oriented" buildings and it seems every single person in the building owns a car. Please note, we are one block from the Brown Line. People from the building park their cars on my street. There are nine garage spaces that the building allotted to renters, yet those are half empty because street parking is free. The garage spaces are not.
Every month there are moving vans in the alley with new people coming in and old going out. Transience does not provide stability to an area.
These "new" buildings are boxes that offer no aesthetic appeal whatsoever. The huge structure at 3950 would be an eyesore in this beautiful area.
As for business in this area, what is the intention? We have 4 or 5 nail salons on Lincoln between Damen and Montrose. I think we are good on those. It's also unrealistic to assume new renters will frequent any businesses in the area. Most, as we do now, will get in their cars and go elsewhere to shop. All the talking points and spin are persuasive, but actually have no foundation in reality.
The building is too large, creates too much congestion and is not suited for an area such as North Center.

There’s too many people, not enough parking and that’s before these residential buildings will be added in.

This building should be required to move all parking to the basement level. There would be more room for better and bigger stores. This proposed building sits on a prominent site in the neighborhood we can do better.

I agree with all the issues stated in this petition. Have just learned there is yet ANOTHER planned development on the SW corner of Seeley and Irving, in addition to this one, which is most disturbing. What is the plan for our neighborhood? It appears there isn’t one; rather when a developer wants to put up a bldg, it just goes to a community meeting. The residents of Seeley Ave are really being squeezed with these two developments. There will be way too much alley traffic, cut through traffic, and congestion. Also-where are the existing renters on Seeley Ave supposed to park when these two developments are built?

Way too high and big. They have to petition to change the zoning, but why is zoning constantly being chaned to suit businesses and developers?!

This project is too large for this area and will have many negative impacts on the neighborhood as far as parking, congestion, traffic, and other aspects. The scale is too large.

This intersection is already very congested. And residents' parking in the area would become a nightmare as well as for other current businesses.

I generally agree with all the comments made. Way too big a project for this corner and area….just can’t even imagine having even more cars on Lincoln/Damen & Irving. These developers haven’t a clue about what these new big developments are doing to our once family oriented quiet neighborhood. I’ve been in NC for 76 years and realize things change over the years but between rising real estate taxes due to million dollar houses being built, plus all the new condos with limited parking spaces, parking and traffic on our residential streets is getting insane. Too many people being crammed into this area. I sympathize with those living adjacent to this upcoming development….can’t even imagine the disruption that is coming. Also, I can’t seem to find out how this bank move with 5th3rd is going to affect people who use their services. Alderman Martin needs to rethink approval of this project - definitely not good for this area.

It is congested enough and with out the number 11 bus there is no reason for this building to happen...although the buildings are being torn down no matter what...so upsetting...

I support the idea of developing unused space. But this proposal is too much. It will cause a number of problems for those of us who are raising families or have raised families in the area and have invested in staying here with ever-surging property taxes.
Now this.
If the developer must squeeze so many units in to justify the high sale price, then 5th3rd's price is too high!
The homeowners of the area should not be required to pay a price as well. Our alleys must remain driveable. Our curbs must be useable for neighbors and visiting friends. The CTA justification is being used to cram in too many families to a defined area that presently has no living units! Surely there is a middle way.
