Anti-blackness. This is Toronto, Canada's big city. Do you think people who live in Manhattan can get mad that their city"doesnt sleep"? Get used to a lively and diverse city or move to the suburbs.

I was very disappointed to hear about the restraints being imposed this year on Afrofest. This festival attracts a large number of people and obviously enriches their lives. The City's reasoning for its decision comes across as weak. We should be celebrating our black community and culture, not trying to put barriers in place. I hope that you will do what you can to restore Afrofest.

The one thing I love about the two day festival is that if I am not able to make it on one day I will on the other. This is absolutely ridiculous. We're always feeling disrespected and insulted individually or systemically because of who we are and where we're from? Always seem to be fighting for our identity. Unity.

The city council is using excuses to shorten the two day festival of Afrofest. Toronto is a multicultural city; let us celebrate diversity through music and food. We can't allow institutionalized racism to restrict our freedoms.

Really Toronto! Of all the "noisy festivals" in Toronto you are picking on this one as the noisy one. #allfestivalsmatter# that's what makes Toronto diverse. ..one would think! But I guess you the decision makers just pick and choose what "matters"

This event is one of the best things about summer in Toronto. Even more than Caribana, this is the festival that I look forward to the most every year. A wonderful chance to be enjoy talent from both the continent and the worldwide diaspora, and to support local businesses who, through their growth, ensure that the Diaspora in Canada can access markets in which they are represented year-round. Where else does this happen with such intensity and camaraderie ? Two days is barely enough!
In addition, the Indy, Jazzfest, & Wakestock (when in Toronto) are much louder, yet there are no council complaints about these events. Torontonians generally take the temporary disruptions as part and parcel of living in a world-class city.

Toronto is known for its livability. Let's encourage the festivals to continue here, not put a road block, however small, in the way of its success. We are so fortunate to have the enthusiastic of the organizers and performers.
