For years Torontonians and Ontarians and others have all come together at Afrofest, celebrating their common humanity with music, dance, and food. We have laughed together and danced together and enjoyed one another's presence. People from elsewhere have been so surprised to see how well we all get along. This celebration of our diversity and our common humanity must continue within the context of 'ubuntu'. We need on another and we need to celebrate one another. It must continue.

As a Citizen of Toronto I wish to enjoy Afrofest in 2016, as I have for the last 25 years. However, it would appear that we have a bigoted and racist Councillor by the name of Mary-Margaret McMahon, who has arbitrarily taken it upon herself to stop the Citizens of Toronto, of which I am one; from being able to enjoy Afrofest, in it's entirety as a two day festival this year.

Why not put a limit on Taste of the Danforth, Jazz Fest, Pork Eating festival and / or etc etc.... anything that the black communities are doing good and for betterment, it poses a threat

Once again something that gives us hope of preserving our culture is in danger of extinction! Afrofest is an amazing cultural celebration of our heritage and our roots! It will be an outrage if this is taken away!

This is a really great event, filled with good vibes and great music. It seems heavy handed that Afrofest is being "punished" for failing to adhere to a noise cutoff time (of 9pm) that the city had initially approved (and then changed to 8pm at the last minute). It's outrageous that the city councillor's response has been dismissive and patronizing. The whole thing smells kinda racist.
