Having attended with my young family can say this is a great festival for families. No good reason to be one day festival. If such a problem, why not cancel it all together. Very sad decision. Hope to see it reversed.

This event is too big for a one day event, stay with the exisiting model two day event. Each time i have been has been a nice mellow vibe to had by all, even in the rain people are out having fun and relaxing.

As some one who runs a business right next to Woodbine park on Queen Street I can honestly say that this is ridiculous. I love Afrofest, it brings a new energy to the area for a whole weekend and it is always a great time. Lets work together, Toronto. We are lucky to have events like these!

I live in this neighbourhood and this festival has brought so much to the community. The noise has never been excessive. If people are bothered by the noise perhaps they could use ear plugs. They are very inexpensive and you can find them at most drug stores. We need to enhance and encourage community in Toronto, not restrict it to a one day event.

If a whole community can live with a week of Gay Pride festivities on their doorstep around the clock as I do because of where I live - then surely making the Afrofest festival an issue is clearly a case of discrimination. This shouldn't even be an issue. Be transparent - don't hide behind bureaucratic reasons & excuses. Most important - be fair.

Do not reduce Afrofest to one day. Work with the organizers to create and event that allows everyone to celebrate the artists and respect the city's bylaws.

Afrofest is life, one of the many celebrations that brings our city togheter and learn so much from each other. It's become a part of our city's history, if you take down one celebration you take down one part of this city. People love coming here for our diversity, don't kill that!!!!

I live in the Beaches and have enjoyed AF in the past. It causes far less disruption than the Jazz Fest - though I enjoy that too. I'm shocked that the city would impose such a draconian order on AF for what seems to be such a minor violation (one hour under reasonable circumstances) and for so few complainants.

Afrofest should be extended to 3 days rather than curtailed to one. Citing noise complaints as the justification for making Afrofest a 1 day event is clearly racist, as the festival has the same decibel level of any other City of Toronto Festival. For those of us traveling to Toronto from other Nations to attend, the City of Toronto benefits greatly from allowing Afrofest to continue to exist as a multi-day festival. Please fix.
