The city of Toronto should embrace the diversity of the African culture and not worry about the most stupidest things. Obviously they dont practice what they preach about appreciating every culture

Dear Councillor McMahon, Please do not limit Afrofest to one day only. This valuable cultural event needs to be freely experienced over a two-day period through music, culture, arts, food, not to mention the social aspect. I feel that the many cultural events in Toronto bring much pride and respect to this city. Limiting this particular Festival to one day or maybe even cancelling it in the future will be a glaring travesty, as most of the festivals run over a three-day period and are welcomed by most of the City's populations. This would expose bias on the Cilty's part and would bring into question Toronto's claim to be a multicultural city. Please do not let the question be asked "multicultural for whom?

Afrofest need the two days for festival. Vendors need to make money. I go every year, two days in total n enjoy every bit of it. If a person cannot do two days, atleast a second day is good so they can attend festival.

This festival brings lots of tourists and has huge economic impact to Toronto and as such, it should remain a 2-day festival. When the city decided to move the festival out of the downtown core the organizers followed through so I am now puzzled as to why the city is trying to limit it to a 1-day event. I thought Toronto was a multicultural city and various other cultural groups (i.e. Greek, Latin etc) enjoy weekend-long festivals so how come it is the African festival that is being squeezed out?

Just complete nonsense. The downsizing and removal of festivals and events like this is not only killing culture, but making room red carpet style for alcohol and drug abuse mega parties. Do I like to party and do drugs? Sure... Do I think it's worth hurting festivals such as Afro Fest? Most certainly not.
Give them 2 days.

Noise Complaints. But The Beaches Jazz festival is a week long, in the same area, shuts down the streets, and the same company does the sound for both festivals according to Afrofest, and keeps the levels equal. This is a joyous, safe, inclusive and celebratory festival, always has been. Two days is necessary to give everyone the time and space to truly enjoy it. You want noise and traffic disruption? Condense it into one day. Doesn't make sense.

It is time that the City of Toronto recognizes that people of African descent actually live in Toronto. The Afrofest event was moved from the downtown core for some fabricated reasons and now another excuse to silence us and the music that represents a part of our culture. I am calling on the "multicultural" community to occupy Woodbine park every weekend leading up to Afrofest until our voices are heard. In Solidarity!

If the festival is just getting bigger and bigger each year, it makes no sense to shorten it to one day! Ridiculous!
