PURPOSE: The purpose of this Town Hall is to educate and raise awareness of existing statutory language impacting local land use and zoning and explain the application and interpretation of CT General Statute (CGS) 8-2 (Local Zoning Authorities) and CGS 8-30g (Affordable Housing). Update current proposed statute changes in CT General Assembly to land use and zoning in the Planning and Development Committee. We will also explore and better understand the mission and goals of DeSegregate CT.

8-30g must be repealed and replaced with a law that encouraged responsible development and pathways to home ownership.

Looks like it would be non conforming from the get go. This isn't something the town should being playing fast and loose with. I hope that you can stop it, but it's Bethel so it's going to happen.

Enough destruction of the environment!!!! The quality of life here in Bethel has gone done drastically with all the development over the past 10 years. If people want the feel, look and services of Queens NY, then move there!!!

Stop overbuilding NOW. We need a moratorium on over building like Ridgefield and Wilton. Why is no one building in Redding? Time to get ahead before we turn into little Danbury.

I am glad to see Bethel protesting such decisions. When we moved here in 1987 I was told by a town hall official that the property across the street could never be developed because it was wetlands. In 2003, despite our neighborhood protests and attendance at meetings, the property was developed anyway. Less developed than it would have been without our protests. That was 16 years ago and I keep wondering how P and Z and Inlands Wetlands committees function.
