I wholehearted believe Clark College’s paralegal program is a vital contributor in keeping the high standard of legal services that are being provided in our community. Our office, as well as many other law offices and community services, has been well served by the paralegal programs’ courses, students and graduates since its inception. This self-supporting and valuable program directly impacts all of us in the community and should not be eliminated.

This program should be retained. When I earned my paralegal certificate from Clark, I had been in the legal field for approximately 25 years. I found myself not only learning new things, but also learned more effective ways to accomplish those tasks. I also met people who have helped me procedurally. I work in Portland and to have assistance in Vancouver to help with Washington law/ procedures, in particular Mickey Thompson, has been invaluable to me.

Cutting a program that actually makes money and rolls out employable students at graduation is a bad idea. There is already an inability to meet the access to justice need. Eliminating this program will only further elongate that shortage.

Please keep this program as there are so many that enjoy the classes and Paralegals will always be in demand as long as there are attorneys that need them.

I took courses through Clark College’s Paralegal Program where I gained the training and knowledge which qualified me for my current possition as a Deputy Clerk. This position requires knowledge in all areas of law. Without the training I received in this program and the positive influence of local, professional Paralegals and lawyers I wouldn't have been able to get where I am now. I am forever grateful to Clark College and the legal staff for the wonderful and helpful experience. Please keep this program at Clark so that it can continue to impact our community.

Why would you cut a program that creates educated, employable people for your community? Having worked in the legal field since 1979, I can say this is an interesting profession that pays a salary people can actually live on.

I have had the honor of mentoring several of the paralegal students through the internship program. The paralegal program does a great job getting the students ready for a career in the legal field. They come so well-prepared that I have hired two of the paralegals straight out of the program.

Eliminating the paralegal program would not be a smart move for the school from a business, economic, education, societal or student morale standpoint.

Completed this program a few years ago and, while not working in the paralegal field, the coursework is applicable to my current position as well. Many good instructors and topics that not only service the legal field, but many office related jobs. Keep, keep, keep!

Although I have never attended Clark College or completed the Paralegal Program, I have benefited immensely from it. I work with two adjunct instructors from the program who are eager to share their knowledge and expertise. I have also gotten to know several people in the legal community who have completed the Paralegal Program and have mentored me over the years. This program offers many opportunities to all involved in the legal community and those who are interested in becoming involved. Please keep this valuable program!!

Eliminating this program would be detrimental to our legal community! I graduated from this program with honors. The knowledge gained from this program has benefited my life . I work in the legal community and wouldn't have been successful if this program didn't exist.
