In my long history with DMPS, the alternative programming is always the first to be cut or downsized. They don’t have rich parent advocates.

Scavo has brought me far this year, made me get extra credits quicker than if i was at a regular DMPS. They got me in a step where i can graduate next year being a senior other than if i was at a regular school i would be a super senior. Scavo is a great school and helps kids through alot, they keep u smiling they keep you at a positive rate and always there when u need someone.

A few of my lil cousins wouldnt even have finished tbeyre education if it were for scavo. They all need an education.

After being kicked out of Hoover High School, I attended Scavo. I lived a life that was leading straight to jail. It took a year to breakthrough but eventually the teachers at Scavo gained my trust and pushed me to be a better me. I graduated in 2010 and was the first student to join the United States Marine Corps from the school. All of this is because of the resources, faculty, and chances provided by Scavo. If this school is shut down, you will be doing a disservice to the children and state of Iowa.

I chose Scavo because it was my only option but I'm so glad I did, it was the only school that ever made me feel welcomed. The teachers made you feel like we were all family and they cared about you and your future. I think it's so important for kids to have that because it was the only time I actually wanted to go to school. I learned so much more from Scavo than any other school because they engaged with me and encouraged me.

Let’s support and stabilize our schools. End closing and shuffling them to extinction. Be the voice for the students of both the past and present.
