Saving Scavo

These kids need Scavo otherwise they may not graduate. I am living proof of it and so is my youngest daughter

Scavo is, without a doubt, one of the greatest assets to the Des Moines schools. We would never consider discontinuing programs for our top students. Scavo is a lifeline for their students. The staff provides a way to their future. We must support that.

This is much needed for the kids who struggle! Please save it!

I wouldn’t have graduated if it wasn’t for Scavo. Their amazing staff helped me through all of it! They care about their students!

I know many students that had Scavo as their only option to complete their high school education. This option of education is needed for our youth to get educated and become productive adults as they grow up and mature.

Save this school. The kids are counting on you

For some students a traditional classroom is not best fit. They still want the personal guidance of a teacher which online school does not provide.

Scavo is a great place

I dont know if i would have graduated without Scavo. The teachers went over and beyond to make sure each student had what they needed. I grew up in foster care so i moved around alot i lost credits. I was able to graduate before i was 21. I just had to do finish some elective classes to graduate. This should be a high school for people that feel like they are misfits to find people just like them. The atmosphere was what I needed. I am so thankful for all my teachers.

It would be very disappointing to see such a great school/resource close. Scavo has helped many students who have struggled to succeed reach their goals. Very upsetting on many levels.

I’m a student at scavo and I would just be another high school dropout if not for scavo, it’s staff, and it’s teachers so please reconsider shutting scavo down

I graduated from Scavo. I hope that this alternative education is still available if my daughters ever need or want it. They made me feel safe and comfortable when standard high schools made me feel alone and like a number. I don’t know that I would have ever completed high school with out this school. I hope they continue to provide the resources they have for teens and young adults.

Please, please, please leave this program in place it is so vital to many at risk youth!!! Thank you

This school is needed for students who feel they don't fit into our traditional high schools and all the negativity a bigger high school brings. Teacher to student ratio means something and can make a difference in someone succeeding.

I currently attend scavo, being there has helped me and so many other students and families slowly but efficiently reach our graduation goals. We also have a daycare center and a clinic that anyone can use.

Scavo students and teachers grow together when each individual commits to the hard work of building a trusting environment that engages the BIG questions and values each person's effort towards setting learning goals that benefit self and others. They are a cohort with unique needs and abilities to learn respectfully to support each other, address challenges, and critically and creatively move foreword as high school graduates & learners who bring those skills to each new day and community goal.

I know the strong commitment of the many teachers to the complete education of the at risk students and helping them through education to make a better life than what they have had, like jobs, marriage, families of their own.

Please don’t close this program for the kids. It’s there because it’s needed!
