HELP TO SAVE THE SOCIETY HILL ZAGAR MURAL! Local, internationally-recognized artist Isaiah Zagar recently created a beautiful mosaic mural on the side wall of a private residence at 307 Delancey Street in Society Hill. The mosaic is located on an archway out of view from the main streets, a small portion of the modern house created by famous architect Adolph DeRoy-Mark. Zagar’s colorful and vibrant artwork contains no offensive imagery and is on a wall that was previously targeted by many graffiti artists. The current resident commissioned the piece as a means to keep graffiti from the neighborhood and to enhance the experience of children in the nearby Three Bears Park, one of Center City’s most popular parks for young children. This mural provides the park visitors with some wonderful opportunities: it can enliven their imaginations, spark an interest in creative practices, and develop an appreciation for public art. Isaiah Zagar’s works are a unique Philadelphia treasure and an important part of the city’s celebrated tradition of mural and public art. Zagar has been praised for his work by people from around the world, including Michelle Obama and Frank Rizzo. Please sign this petition to keep this important piece for the benefit of the community and Philadelphia!

I live right around the corner and it is such a huge improvement over a blank, graffiti-covered wall. It keeps the area looking nice.

This mural is beautiful and makes the walk to the park so much better for my kids. Why on earth would anyone want to get rid of it?

My kids love looking at the patterns when we go to Three Bears. So much color and joy in the neighborhood now.
