Petition to the UCC Management and Principal Dear sir, This petition has been signed on behalf of the alumni of UC college. We all were part of this college once, and had some of the best years of our lives there. It is sad to hear the news of trees being cut in the campus, especially that of the 'Vaka' tree (Safed Siris) in front of the library. Yes, the management will definitely have many reasons as usual for everything it does. This petition is done in the hope that there is still someone at UC College who can see that UCC is an organization of all people- the people who were there, who are there now, and who is yet to come there. It is as much ours, the people who were there, who loved it with our hearts, as much yours. And more importantly, it is for the generations to come. For this reason, we hope you will understand that these trees are an integral part of our campus, something that gives beauty and 'life' to the environment. It is easy to create a campus full of concrete- it can be done in an year. But to create a campus that is alive and breathing takes ages. When these trees are cut it is the same 'life' that is being lost. It is imperative at this stage that action be taken to ensure no further cutting down of trees would happen. We request the management, the staff and students to join together in creating an agreement whereby certain areas of UCC shall be declared and preserved as 'green zones'. We hope you will honour the tradition of the campus, and respect the sentiments of several generations who loved it. We hope you will keep it without further damages for the generations yet to come. Signed below Old students of UCC.
