I grew up off Carowinds Blvd, my first job was working on Thunder Road. Its just a city and regional icon. People identify Carowinds and the area with this ride.

No modern ride can replace the most historical coaster in the park.

Thunder Road is the first roller coaster I've ever been on. It's also the first one that I rode with my wife. Keep it around so when my daughter is old enough she can enjoy it like we did.

As a kid, TR was my first adult coaster. As a young adult, I spent a season operating it. I can't imagine what they are going to replace it with that will be worth this loss. If the plans are to add more water slides or water play areas, then heads should roll. I'd love to see it painted white again, the Burma Shave signs reinstalled, and the car hoods added back onto the fronts of the trains. Carolinians love tradition, and Thunder Road holds a special place in a lot of hearts. How many roller coasters bridge a state line? No matter the benefits of removing it, somethings are better left untouched. I don't think it's too much to say that Carowinds is losing it's soul and the Carolinas is losing a treasure.

Let it hit 50 years at least! It's position on the border of two states is iconic!

This ride has memories that only the true carowinds fanatics remember. Why not just make upgrades to the ride itself?
