This was the 1st roller coaster I ever rode. I was 4 and they has to put tissues in my shoes so I would be tall enough. I vaguely remember getting off and asking my mom "Why didn't you scream? don't you know your suppose to scream when your having fun." This dollar coaster IS Carowinds to me. Restore it. Run it backwards. Anything just don't tear it down :(

Carowinds, please update thunder road, but don't demoish it. Kill cyclone instead. Also, it would help to know specifically what would replace the beloved coaster.

if you take away Thunder Road then you take away my happiness and it is a great coaster. But is they do close Thunder Road then let is finish the 2015 season

Thunder Road is not the only coaster in the world to cross state lines, in fact, it isn't even the first. The first coaster to cross state lines was Goldrusher back in 1973 (3 years before TR opened). Other coasters to cross the state line are Fury325, Nighthawk, and Carolina Cobra. Thunder Road was a clone of Kings Dominion's Rebel Yell, which isn't too far from Carowinds. Blah blah blah, an internet petition isn't going to change the park's mind, they've been planning this for over a year, the chance of getting them to change their mind is just about -3000%, the decision is already SET in STONE.

Please do not tear down this great and historic coaster. Theme parks are always looking for the flashy and most unique ride. Thunder Road is extreamly unique! Named for a movie filmed in NC, it is the only coaster that crosses state lines. Plus there aren't many wooden racing coasters left. I always make a point to ride this one when I come. You can only operate a water park 3 months of the season. This move will leave a gaping hole 3 months of the season where a great ride currently stands.

As a former park employee from years ago, and an avid roller coaster enthusiast, I would be truly be saddened by the loss of Thunder Road. I understand its historic value as a testament to the park's original founder E. Patt Hall and the importance it had on the early years of the park in securing the success for its future. Cedar Fair has other parks that have their own crown jewels of roller coasters at each individual park. While I can understand Cedar Fair's possible reasons to consider its loss: potential water park expansions real-estate, future possible other attraction space real estate, multi-year investment/restoration that has yet to significantly increase its ridership numbers (high investment/low return), and ageing life-span; just to name a few. I would like to plea Cedar Fair, and our new but seasoned Park Officials, to reconsider the fate of Thunder Road. I would truly like to see Cedar Fair ultimately do is make one last investment into the ride. It is my belief that in order to keep the "Thunder Road" it didn't need renovation/RESTORATION, what it truly needed was INNOVATION. I dream that ultimately "the ride" stays but has an major update (change of layout, short/lengthen/compact its ride real estate, whatever they may choose) and make a historic statement showcasing exactly what they have been doing with the park and that is by breathing positive life into a well deserving park. I understand that through out time we must let go of certain things in our past to advance towards the future, I believe that doing this it could be a good mutual ground for all parties involved and effected. Let's give TR one more chance by changing for the future and make it the ride it has the potential to be, only this time rediscovered.
