It is a travesty that Carowinds would want to remove such a classic and wonderul coaster! They should maintian it in top top shape, add a car to each side, lubricate it, and run it all out and make it the thrill ride that it used to be! It would be much more popular it they would take the time to actual care for it, ditto for other rides like Hurler. The new managment is not winning any fans by ripping apart what was, and should be, a great theme park with both classic and modern rides. Shame on them for removing the wonderful nostalgia and ambiance of this park!

This is the only roller coaster you cannot take out the park. This was the first thrill I rode and broke me into riding all the other thrill rides today. All my kids have yet to ride it!

I've ridden this ride since I was young- 20 years later I still love it. It's the classic ride of the park. It's a huge mistake to get rid of it.

Save Thunder Road and and do away with the Hurler!!!! Thunder Road is one of my favorite rides! I ride it everytime I go and I'm a season pass holder for three years!!!

I have no plan to return to Carowinds once they bulldoze this ride. That'll be it for me, unless they replace it with another classic wooden coaster. Seems like a very stupid decision to me.

It would be funny if attendance dropped off as a result. Carowinds might discover that people actually come there to ride Thunder Road, and not just experience (and pay for) $50 million dollars worth of newness. Old wood coasters rock!

If CedarFair would THINK THINGS THROUGH properly as they should have, they would design the new water park attractions either OVER, AROUND or THROUGH the structure of Thunder Road instead of destroying and maintaining the ride for future generations. But noooooo!!! This is very typical of what CedarFair has done to the amusement park industry. Heck, over the last several years they spent a TON of money to restore not one but both turnarounds on this coaster only to now want to tear it down. What a waste of money!!! I for one will NEVER patronize ANY of their parks if they remove Thunder Road. TPM = Theme Park Mentality at its finest (or worst in this case).
