What are nearly hundreds of business owners across the GTA supposed to do when this ban is passed? How will they survive if this is the primary good sold from their primary business? How will they get out of their commercial lease? To who will they sell off their assets (all the shish merchandise) when tobacco isn't accessible to purchase by the average Canadian citizen?

On the one hand, Candian authorities want the people of this country to be tolerant of other cultures, and on the other hand it tables laws like this. Despite risks of liver failure, hypertension and, importantly, all sorts of serious social dysfunction, government turns a blind eye to the unlimited sale and consumption of alcohol in public areas. The only reason I can think of for this is that alcohol consumption is deeply ingrained in the local culture. However, when it comes to an equivalent drug, nicotine, which is ingrained in many eastern cultures, the government appears to be taking a not-so-tolerant line. This is disastrous! Not only will we be denied a familair, relaxing social environment, we will also be forced onto the streets. Going to the local bar or pub is not an option for us. Come on, City, you can put some very clear restrictions on hookah-smoking without banning it altogether. It is well worth putting in the effort. We will all thank you for it.

Shisha is part of todays culture and the government wants to shut it down because they are loosing money. They know it and we know it.

They're only trying to close down shisha/hookah bars to drive up cigarette revenue. DEFINITELY not for our for health concerns. If that were the case cigarettes would be banned too! SAVE THE HOOKAH!

Hookah is a part of tradition of the Arabs and the Muslims. Banning them is not an solution. Keep it available for the consumer who are adult and aware of the risk if any, like the cigarette smoker. By banning it government will make it illicit and will loose revenue.

Just for the record, herbal tobacco is much much cheaper than regular tobacco. I believe it costs about a quarter of regular tobacco. So there is not a single shisha place, in their right mind, that would trick customers by giving them regular tobacco. Please don't make things up and inform yourself on the matter before posting such a comment.

If this is a multicultural city we should not be oppressing some cultures while accepting others. This is an optional activity and should not be banned, punished, or oppressed in any way or form.

Alcohol kills more people than smoking the government should stay out of our business unless they are going to ban Alcohol to they should not ban smoking
