Dear Members of The City Council: We urge you not to cut the budget for The Office of The Tenant Advocate. The Office of The Tenant Advocate was established as a result of an extraordinary effort by tenant advocates and members of the city council DC tenants now have a legal voice to represent them. The Office of The Tenant Advocate needs to be expanded and strengthened. Instead tenant advocates have learned that the Mayor's Office has proposed cutting the Office of The Tenant Advocate budget by 56%!!! We urge you to stand behind DC tenants (who make up 60% of DC residents) and continue to fully fund and strengthen the Office of The Tenant Advocate.
