This program was essential to my training as a physician, as it should be for future doctors. Healthcare needs the JMP!

This program is essential to maintaining capacity in the workforce caring for our patients. Students from the joint program are also invaluable to the public health infrastructure in the state of California which is becoming increasingly important to address issues of health-related social needs for our most complicated patients. Closing this program would be devastating to the health care workforce.

This country needs primary care physicians desperately. Isn't there some sports program that could be trimmed instead?

There are some very intelligent and motivated individuals in this program who I know are passionate about advancing health justice through their careers. Cutting this program would exacerbate the growing discrepancy between social responsibility and the medical profession that is crucial to addressing persistent health inequities in this country.

I have worked directly with JMP students in a clinical setting, and they stand out from the rest of medical students in their passion and in being more well-rounded individuals. It would be a sincere shame to have this program come to an end!

We need to keep this school. The future of our country is at stake, specially rural areas where primary medical care is crucial.

"Penny wise and pound foolish" to consider closing the JMP. I am community faculty for the UC Davis EM Residency, and serve on their Resident Selection Committee. JMP graduates have been among the most highly qualified and committed candidates I have interviewed. For the good of our profession and state, we need to continue to invest in the very smart and savvy students who populate this program.
