I had the privilege to mentor, Shirley Chan, a group leader of of a program that offered Health coaching for affordable senior housing in Berkeley. The success of program was proven both quant actively as well as qualitatively. Don't let it go!

I am a youth in SF, California. I attend a San Fransisco High School and I value my health. I get yearly checkups with adolescent-medicine doctors. I have a strong opinion that this incredible Medical Program stay open to medical students that want to change the world.

I graduated from UCSF in 1995. I did my residency in Family Medicine at Contra Costa Health Services and continue to work for Contra Costa County.
I know many physicians who graduated from the UCB-UCSF Joint Medical Program, most if not all of whom work in primary care and are excellent physicians.
Please continue to fund the Joint Medical Program, to preserve the important contribution the program makes to medicine and society.

Please don't shut down this program. I have first hand knowledge if the quality of students the program attracts,having taught there in the 90's. Bright, innovative, and committed to service--exactly the kinda of people who should be going into medicine. Many go into primary care. Getting an MPH with your MD is a great idea. Now in my role as chief health officer at a major California health plan I see the need for more, not less, JMP grads every day.
