The JMP allowed me to study medicine while staying engaged in public health and public policy. This is an amazing training program!! Nathan Sackett, MD, MS

JMP not only trains physicians who practice in underserved communities, it also trains physicians who themselves are from those communities. They lead and guide their profession, and they are a treasured set of Berkeley alumni.

The JMP gave me an unusual medical school experience, with an emphasis on the societal aspects of medicine and caring for vulnerable populations. I've taken that background with me into global health and informatics research. ---- Bill Lober, MD MS Professor Health Informatics and Global Health University of Washington

What I learned and experienced through my 3 years of training at the JMP set the entire trajectory of my professional career on multiple levels.

Graduate of JMP in 1992. The closure of the JMP would be a major loss. I credit the JMP with solidifying my commitment to primary care and disparities research.

The JMP is a extremely valuable and unique program that regularlygraduates talented socially commented physicians , many of whom become leaders in primary care. It is imperative to maintain this program.

As someone who studies education for the professions and who has had close contact with the JMP program for a number of years, I can attest that it is an innovative model for the state and country. Closing the program would represent a genuine loss for the University and the field of medical education.

This program exemplifies all that we need to KEEP and EXPAND in order to have the kind of physicians necessary to care for our children and communities. It is a model for the future.

I am the former librarian for the JMP, now retired. The JMP is a unique program, with incredibly talented students. It would be a great disservice to the community for the JMP to be defunded.

I interacted with several of the students as they came through on their rotations at Alta Bates. It is a valuable program that should continue.
